KS4 Ancient History at Carrickfergus Academy aims to create knowledgeable, engaged and resilient learners.

 

Within the GCSE students will study topics that will challenge

the students to always consider the relevance and significance of cultures and areas beyond a traditional, northern European narrative of History. Carefully selected optional units will allow students to study key

figures from Ancient History and balanced source analysis will develop a deeper, more knowledgeable understanding of the ancient past.

 

Students will learn about the Persian Empire and their invasions of Greece which inspired films like 300 and the creation and development of Rome.

 

They will also learn about major historical figures like Alexander the Great  and Hannibal Barca who were victorious in some of the most significant battles and military campaigns in history.
