Sixth Form Admissions

Sixth Form Admissions and Study Policy

Welcome to the Sixth Form Area of the Carrickfergus Academy Website. We trust that our website will provide you with information about being a sixth form student with us.

At Carrickfergus Academy, we are committed to excellence within a caring and supportive environment where our young people can develop the skills and confidence needed throughout their lives. We place great importance on offering personalised advice and support on higher education and career options to ensure students leave us with the skills and qualifications to succeed in their chosen pathway.

At Post-16, we offer a wide range of courses which allow for diverse subject combinations which are designed to meet the needs, talents and interests of all our students. Sixth Form at Carrickfergus Academy is a stimulating experience, with enrichment opportunities in the extracurricular area of school life, opportunities to travel abroad and to participate in leadership across the school community.

Most importantly, you will find yourself part of a community, with access to specialist Sixth Form facilities including dedicated study areas and social space.

Year 13 and 14 students have access to separate Common and Study Rooms which are supervised at all times.

On an annual basis, we hold a Sixth Form Open Afternoon and Evening in March with a presentation, tours of the school and information on Subject Options. Our Sixth Form is currently oversubscribed and we would encourage any prospective new pupils who do not currently attend Carrickfergus Academy and, who wish to consider applying to us for Sixth Form, to contact us early  year 12 for an initial application.

We look forward to meeting you.
