Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Carrickfergus Academy. We are delighted that you are considering Carrickfergus Academy as the post primary school for your child.  We recognise that this is a very important decision, and we hope that you will find everything you need to inform your decision on our website.

Carrickfergus Academy is an all ability, non-selective school for pupils aged 11-18 in the Carrickfergus area and beyond.

As a school, we believe that our ethos of CARE, Challenge, Achieve, Respect and Excel embodies who we are and what we want for the pupils in our care. We are committed to providing all the young people in our community with an educational experience that promotes aspiration, excellence, and endeavour in a caring, pupil centred environment.

The school itself is situated across two neighbouring campuses, with Key Stage 3 pupils on the Junior Campus who then transition to Key Stage 4 and Sixth Form on the Senior Campus.

At the Academy we provide a broad and balanced curriculum across all Key Stages. We are particularly proud of the extensive range of academic, vocational, and occupational courses available to our young people at Key Stage 4 and 5. We believe that this choice helps open up a range of pathways ensuring success for all across a variety of careers, trades and professions.

In our school we value the development of the whole child. Our pupils have many opportunities to grow, both inside and outside the classroom and we encourage all pupils to make the most of our many extracurricular activities.

Our overall aim is that each young person has a happy and fulfilling learning experience throughout their time with us. We want each child to take every opportunity, to accept every challenge and develop persistence and resilience.

As a school, we will challenge each young person to be the very best they can be. We will expect high levels of achievement as well as positive behaviour and a responsible and respectful attitude. We value the relationships with our families believing that this is central to achieving what is best for our young people.

We are proud of our pupils, school, and community.

Through this website, we hope to give you a sense of what we believe is a happy, vibrant, inclusive, and caring school. If you have any additional questions or queries or would wish to visit our School, please do not hesitate to contact us.
