Carrickfergus Academy has a vision to be at the heart of its community and for decades has been providing a range of varied facilities and usable space to local clubs and businesses and for those in the wider community. These facilities have facilitated numerous sporting activities, creative classes, promotional events and teaching opportunities outside the traditional school hours.

Indoor Facilities

Assembly Halls

​

Over both sites there are two assembly halls with a warm feel which can host up to 400 people, offer modern lighting and sound systems as well as presentation technology in the high speck projector and screen. Both halls include a permanent stage which can be extended with extra portable staging. 

​

Common use of these areas includes Tai Chi, Yoga and fitness classes as well as annual events and presentations and the space is perfect for craft and Christmas fairs.

 

Sports Hall

​

A spacious sports hall facilitates a range of sporting activities including 5-aside football, netball and basketball, badminton, volleyball and trampolining. The hall divides into three sections easily if required. There is a subdivision which allows for teaching or coaching areas and storage of equipment or personal belongings. 

​

This area has been extensively used for 5-aside sports camps, local football and hockey winter training, youth club sports activities and most recently a new community netball group. 

 

Conference Rooms

​

We have a number of small conference or interview rooms which have been used for counselling or small groups sessions.

 

Classrooms

​

A range of classrooms offer interactive white boards and projectors for presentations and lectures. These rooms can host 30 people comfortably. 

 

Exterior Facilities

 

We have extensive outdoor facilities including rugby, football and hockey pitches. Also available are several solid surface areas, gravel and tarmac, which could be used for multisport or outdoor events. These areas have drive in access and extensive parking areas with easy access to toilet facilities. Summer use of these facilities is particularly popular with use for summer schemes, soccer and other sports academies and caravan/motor home events. 

 

Bookings

 

All our facilities can be booked 5 nights per week during term time, and in the summer months the areas are available during daytime hours also. There is also provision for weekend events and holiday use. For more details speak to the school office. 
 

Classes on Offer

 

There are several classes which are on offer during the week which can be booked through the school office.

Monday: Tai Chi, 5-aside football, Community netball.

Tuesday: Yoga, Art club, Amateur Radio club, Mandarin, Youth club.

Wednesday: Fitness club, Soccer academy.

Thursday: Youth club.

Sunday: Vineyard Church services and events.
